As Variety writes, James O’Barr, the creator of „The Crow“ has signed a contract to assist in making the remake of the movie. As the director of „The Crow“ F Javier Gutierrez has been signed on to.

Cast to star is already Luke Evans who has been in this summer’s blockbuster „Fast and Furious 6“.

Harsh comments have already come up about the remake as the star of the 1994 movie, Brandon Lee, was accidentally killed on set while filming. Therefore some people think that out of respect the new movie should not be made.

O’Barr explained that the remake won’t concentrate on re-doing the 1994 movie but will be made as a new interpretation of the book itself, leaving the 1994 movie untouched.

After several big names have been in for possibly being cast in the „The Crow“ reboot – Tom Hiddleston, Alexander Skarsgard and James McAvoy to name a few -, it has now been announced that Luke Evans will play the leading role of Eric Draven.

Despite being the first choice of Spanish director F. Javier Gutierrez, Evans had been very busy with other projects, for example with „The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug“ and „Dracula“. Therefore the production seemed to try to cast other actors for the leading role in „The Crow“ but ultimately shooting has been pushed back to accommodate Evans. That is what reports.
